Convergence

About Convergence

Convergence is a place for improvisational, collaborative online comics. It gives readers a chance to read a truly unpredictable sequential story, and artists a chance to challenge themselves creatively by contributing to an organic, collaborative creative exercise.

The most valuable resource provided by sites like deviantART and other art sites is the ability to converse and learn from your peers and audience. Web sites like that are doing a fantastic job, and we have no intention of dipping into their territory or accomodating that niche.

Convergence is a chance to play in a sandbox, to have a set of tools and a challenge and to apply yourself to the furthering of a widespread, ongoing goal. Psychologists have known for years that collaboration is exponentially more inducive to creativity than competition, and that's the concept this site is built on.

Convergence was originally created by Tyler Sticka in 2004 as a personal project and an opportunity to partner with numerous talented artists who lived thousands of miles away. The original iteration was small and unsophisticated from a technical standpoint, and fizzled out in a few months. In 2006, Tyler Sticka and Peter Wooley applied their abilities in web development to resurrect the concept and Convergence as it stands today was born.
